CaNaDry®
A unique, dry lime hemp mix, applicable in all layers of the building both in new construction, renovation and restoration.
Why insulate with CaNaDry?
Thermal insulation
CaNaDry is an excellent thermal regulator due to its high porosity, breathability and seamless application.
Exceptional moisture management
Both lime and hemp shives absorb moisture, resulting in a comfortable indoor living environment.
Healthy indoor climate
Create a healthy and natural climate in every room. No condensation or mold in your home.
100% bio-based, recyclable and circular
Acoustic insulation
The porosity provides good sound absorption from outside and produces a pleasant sound environment indoors.
Fireproof
hemplime is one of the most fire-safe building materials.
CaNaDry® is Exie's patented biocomposite consisting of a mixture of hemp hulls and lime. The product is applicable as insulation for interior walls, roofs, ceilings, facades, floors and attic floors and can be used in restoration, renovation and new construction.
Exie developed CaNaDry® to provide an answer to the labor- and time-intensive nature of traditional hemplime. This dry lime hemp mix offers builders the advantage of quick and easy installation. After pouring the CaNaDry into its formwork, the building can be finished immediately.
Those who insulate with CaNaDry not only save on processing time but will enjoy the results faster. With a phase change of at least 15 hours, you will immediately enjoy cool summers, warm winters and a smaller energy bill.
Flexible hemp semi-finished products
In addition, CaNaDry® offers a number of advantages that traditional insulation materials do not;
- Exceptional moisture control: relative humidity in the home is regulated at an average of 55%. This is ideal for human health and also ensures a building that lasts a long time. The material provides additional protection for the structural wood which is invaluable in preventing water-related problems such as leaks and moisture damage to buildings.
- Acoustic insulation: its sound-damping and absorption properties are so great that it is even used in music studios.
- hemplime captures CO2 during the growth of the hemp but also during the carbonation process of the lime. Throughout its lifetime, the product stores more CO2 than it releases.
- Safe and healthy: no harmful substances are released during cultivation, processing or installation of the product. Insulate with care for people, buildings and the environment.
Wall insulation
CaNaDry is used as non-loaded insulation for walls to obtain a wall traditionally insulated with hemplime . Whether for renovation, new construction, CaNaDry provides a contiguous insulation layer without seams, even for the most complex structures or in the most difficult to reach places.
Roof insulation
The natural temperature buffering properties of hemplime make this insulation the perfect material to install in both flat and pitched roofs. In addition to good insulation in winter, you will also have a cool room in summer. In just 2 days, you can have a fully insulated roof. No possibility of condensation, no need for a vapor barrier!
Floor insulation
If you do not already have a concrete slab in your home to be renovated or new, CaNaDry is a full and healthy alternative to traditional floor construction. CaNaDry is applied on a layer of crushed shells in which rising damp can be trapped. The floor can be further finished with a vapor permeable screed. The installation of underfloor heating is perfectly possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is CaNaDry a circular building material?
How does CaNaDry differ from most common insulation materials?
The main difference is its hygrothermal behavior. CaNaDry regulates temperature and humidity in buildings. The benefits are occupant comfort, longer building life and energy savings. In addition, CaNaDry cannot burn, and it does so without fire retardants. It does not rot, because of the silica. It lasts for hundreds of years in a building, assuring the owner of a long-life investment. It contains no traces of toxic substances and can eventually be recycled and as such returned to nature or incorporated back into our manufacturing cycle. Finally, thanks to the carbonation process, the material continues to store CO2 even after installation.
What fire class does CaNaDry fall under?
We have European certification that proves what we already knew: CaNaDry does not burn and no toxic smoke is released. This is due to the lime and high silica content in the hemp. CaNaDry falls under fire class B s1 d0.
