Sustainable insulation

EXIE Fibres consists of a combination of straw flakes. It is mold resistant and protects against pests. EXIE Fibres not only keeps out the cold in winter, but also protects against the heat in summer for up to 14 hours.

Thanks to EXIE Fibres, you get a total circular system in your home with a high insulation value.

This insulation material is easy to install. It is blown into the wall, intermediate floor or roof and finished with a vapor-permeable board, after which you can immediately finish with loam, paint or any other vapor-permeable material.

EXIE fibers are blown into closed, hollow spaces where they provide a contiguous insulation layer without seams. Even the most complex structures or in hard-to-reach places, this blow-in technique is an ideal solution. In addition, straw flakes can be blown into wooden lattices or attic floors as insulation.

Exie fibres offers excellent thermal and sound insulation, thanks to its capillary action that optimizes moisture control in the building. With a low thermal conductivity and the ability to regulate moisture, blow-in straw contributes to a healthy and comfortable indoor environment.

Wall insulation

Straw insulation can be used in walls of both new construction and existing buildings. It can serve as a filler material in wood frame construction or be applied between solid walls.

Roof insulation

EXIE fibres can be used to insulate both pitched and flat roofs. They are blown in or applied between roof trusses or beams.

Floor insulation

Straw insulation can be used for wood floor structures. It is placed between joists or under the floor to reduce heat loss to the crawl space or ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are EXIE fibres fireproof?

Blown-in straw, unlike loose straw, will not burn easily. By blowing in the straw, the straw is compacted and one gets a seam- and gap-free result. Thus, the whole contains little oxygen and will exhibit a fire resistance of 60 to 120 minutes after finishing.

Don't EXIE fibres attract mice or other pests?

Straw, unlike hay, contains no nutrients. Careful placement also prevents it from serving as a nesting site. Straw is the dry stem of a cereal crop and consists mainly of cellulose and lignin. Due to the lack of nutrients, rodents and insects ignore straw and prefer better alternatives.
